In the late 2012 Nike asked 4 artists (us, Chazme & Sepe) to participate in the event prior to this year's Run Warsaw,
called 'Not for tourists'.
Goal of the event was to promote local pride by enhancing differences between tourists and locals. Locals live their
lives using local knowledge, which allows them to move around secret spots and hidden cultural treasures, mainly
using shortcuts. Tourists stick to main roads and walkways, always looking kinda lost with their flowery shirts
and HD cameras.
Participants to win Nike Cortez or Windrunner needed to guess where the green VW van is located - Nike posted
photos showing details of places known only by locals. After finding the van, participants searched for green cans
hidden somewhere around the spot. When all cans was found, shoes and jackets given - van moved to another
location, giving another participants to show their local knowledge and win.
Nike wanted us to paint 2x2m cubes with art referring to Warsaw and our feelings that connects us with this city.
We wanted to do something that really could connect local people to our work.
That's why we invited all the local participants to leave a mark on three walls of our cube.
